Title: Anne’s Blog: La Belle et Brillante Oriole en Bois Sculpté à la Main
Hello, chers amis,
Today, I’d like to introduce you to a unique and captivating creation: the Oriole en Bois Sculpté à la Main, a 6.5-inch, 1-inch wooden bird, meticulously handcrafted by the talented duo, Anna & David. Who can resist these brilliant and beautiful creatures?
Entirely handmade, from sculpture to painting and finishing, these Orioles are created using fair trade principles. The durable resinous wood is sourced from sustainable practices, and non-toxic paints are used. Anna & David’s inspiring works merge indigenous folk art and Western aesthetic, born from their home on the beautiful Vancouver Island, surrounded by the sea, mountains, and an abundance of birds.
For over seven years, Anna & David have worked closely with three families of skilled woodcarvers. Relying on centuries-old techniques from the villages, they create exquisite products that reflect the beauty and simplicity of nature. Their materials include fast-growing Albesia and coffee woods, which come from sustainable agricultural practices for continuous growth and harvest.
Our bases aim to appear natural, with rough edges and imperfections intentionally left untouched. The sun, rain, and even insects all play a role in the creation of character, making each piece as unique as a leaf on a tree. There is no strict rule regarding signs of aging, and pieces may display more or less wear depending on the season. Natural imperfections, such as insect holes and cracks, are an integral part of the design.
The painting process is an attempt to capture the essence and not focus on technical precision. Random and light sanding is part of the look, which is known as « painstaking in the execution and varies from piece to piece. » While our photos may depict the Orioles in great detail, remember that each piece is handmade and not a resin mold replica.
(According to the law, all pieces are cleaned and treated, ensuring they are natural but not dirty or infested!)
Let me leave you with the enchanting image of this exquisite Oriole en Bois Sculpté à la Main. I hope it brings a touch of nature, inspiration, and joy into your home.
Stay inspired, my friends!
Anne.
